NEW YEAR
The light is scarce, the body is heavy, and yet, we are expected to party and have the most magnificent evening of the year. For some, this is great; for others, it can feel all wrong and counterintuitive. It is OK to choose NOT to be around people that evening and choose voluntary solitude. INVOLUNTARY solitude is a different story, and is something we rarely talk about. It is, however, more common than we think.
Regardless of WHY you are spending New Year's alone, the transition of the year can be a magical time. We can make it an opportunity for transformation, reflection, and a way to connect in spirit with all the other souls around the world who are in the same situation as you. You are not alone. New Year's can be an excellent time to reflect on the year that's passed and just be. It is an opportunity to spend the evening in mindfulness. Begin the next cycle in the dark, in good company with the person you should love the most, yourself.
We are currently working on a solo New Year's ritual, and we will publish it within a few days.
